A French Classic Takes the Stage

Lobster Thermidor for $18 at PPG

Lobster Thermidor was created in 1894 by Marie’s, a Paris restaurant near the theatre Comedie Francaise, to honor the opening of the play Thermidor by Victorien Sardou.

Enjoy this French classic PPG style with a sweet lobster tail tossed with mushroom tarragon brandy and lobster cream, topped with parmesan cheese and baked in own shell, served over roasted red pepper coulis and parsley aioli from the New Fall 30th Anniversary Menu.

Visit Park Plaza Gardens for menus, special events and more.

To reserve your table, call PPG at 407-645-2745.

Favorite Top Chef Tips – August 20th, 2010

Searing Means Flavor

Get great flavor from your meat, beef, pork, chicken or fish, by searing each side before progressing with your favorite recipe. Use approximately 1 tablespoon of oil, just enough to coat, not cover, the bottom of the skillet. Heat on medium, just below the smoking point. Place meat in the skillet, turning occasionally, until you achieve a golden brown, not black, crust on all sides. If this is the only method of cooking for your recipe, and the meat has not achieved the desired temperature, place in an oven safe dish and heat in a 350 degree oven until appropriate temperature is reached.
Taste the searing difference with the 12oz Grilled New York Sirloin Strip Steak for $16.95 served with maitre d’ hotel butter, from the 30th Anniversary Menu.

Wine Pairing Recommendation

Pair your 12oz PPG Grilled New York Sirloin Strip Steak with our Hess Collection “Block 19” Cuvee. This Bordeaux style red blend has a firm tannic structure that will surely stand up to the full flavor of the Strip Steak. $15 per glass.

Reserve your table at Park Plaza Gardens by calling 407-645-2475 and enjoy our wine pairing recommendations.

This Thursday – Winter Park CoffeeTalk to Brew a Latte’ Conversation – August 16th, 2010

The City of Winter Park is continuing its popular CoffeeTalk series and invites the community to attend and join in the conversation.

Residents have indicated that speaking at large public meetings is often  intimidating and uncomfortable. Therefore, CoffeeTalk gives residents the  opportunity to discuss their concerns with the Mayor, City Commissioners  and City Manager in a more casual and comfortable environment. These  sessions give the community an opportunity to sit down and talk with city  officials over a cup of coffee which is generously provided by Palmano’s  Coffee Roastery and Espresso Bar.

This Week: August 19  Vice Mayor Beth Dillaha
